Welcome

February 26, 2018

I’m going to start using this website as a place for updates on what I’m currently doing and as a record of places I’ve been. It’ll mainly consist of trip reports of hikes and other adventures. Maybe some more general updates as well.

In December I fractured the scaphoid bone in my wrist and got a cast that I have until the end of March. The fracture means no biking, snowboarding or other activities where I can get the cast wet. Because of this I had to scrap my plans to do a bike touring trip across New Zealand and Australia. A couple weeks later I decided to pack up my truck and head back out West on a road trip to visit friends, explore different cities and get outdoors more. After leaving New Jersey I made my way to Colorado, then went to Portland, Olympic National Park, Seattle and back to Colorado again.

Now I’m making my way down Austin, Texas for South by Southwest (SXSW) in March. Along the way I’ll stop in Santa Fe, New Mexico then head further south to Big Bend National Park. In Big Bend I’m going to backpack the Outer Mountain Loop, a route through the Chisos Mountains and the Chihuahuan Desert!

After SXSW, if all goes well, I’ll be getting my cast off and I can slowly start to use both my hands again! I plan on spending April and May doing numerous backpacking trips throughout the Colorado Plateau in Southern Utah/Northern Arizona.
